Leon Pereira is an Adjunct Professor at Hawaii Pacific Unversity, where he teaches courses in class and online, including Social Psychology and Personality Theory.
Dr. Pereira has a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and in Behavioral Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a master's degree in Social Psychology from the University of Bombay, India. His master's thesis focussed on the relationship between self-concept and social behavior, and his doctoral dissertation dealt with personality subtypes and depression.
Currently, Dr. Pereira has interests in depression, anxiety, anger management, grief counseling, and relationship difficulties; facilitating personal growth and adjustment to life changes (such as marriage, divorce, remarriage, and blended families); and assisting in recovery from trauma and abuse. He also helps parents with behavior management and parenting concerns.
Born in England, Dr. Pereira grew up in Bombay, India. He has lived in Hawaii since 1985 and presently resides in Kaneohe.
